Tragedy struck a wedding set for Sunday when Maria Belcia, 26, lost her life in a road accident near Vadipatti in Madurai district on Saturday. The incident occurred in the early hours as she and her fiancé, Jeba Bastian, an Indian Army soldier, were en route to Madurai. The couple had planned to marry on September 13th.
Their motorcycle was reportedly struck by a car whose driver allegedly lost control after a tyre burst. The collision threw both riders from their vehicle, with Belcia sustaining fatal injuries at the scene. Bastian was injured and subsequently admitted to Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital for treatment. Vadipatti police have registered a case and are actively investigating the circumstances of the fatal accident.
