7 Mar
Summary
- Four children died when a brick kiln wall collapsed.
- Police registered a case 14 months after the incident.
- The accident was initially attributed to strong winds.

Four children perished following a devastating wall collapse at a brick kiln in Hansi district on December 22, 2024. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 PM, tragically trapped sleeping children under debris. The victims included three children of labourer Bhagwan Das and one daughter of Murari, with another child succumbing to injuries later.
Local police recorded an initial report on December 24, 2024, concerning unnatural death. However, a formal First Information Report (FIR) was registered approximately 14 months later, on March 7, 2026, under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This action followed a review by senior officers.
Initially, the accident was described by witnesses, including Bhagwan Das, as a sudden event caused by a strong gust of wind, with no party being held responsible and no desire for legal action. The case was initially processed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) before the FIR was lodged.
