A six-year-old boy, Elliot English, has died from injuries sustained in an arson attack on his family home last month in Waterford city. This tragic event occurred three weeks after the same attack claimed the lives of his parents, Kim and Philip, and his siblings, Callum, aged 12, and nine-year-old Jayden.
Elliot and a 14-year-old girl were rescued by firefighters. The teenage girl is currently in the care of Children's Health Ireland (CHI) in Dublin. Both Elliot and Jayden had been born with heart defects and frequently used the BUMBLEance children's ambulance for medical appointments and surgeries at CHI.
Paramedics and the BUMBLEance service expressed deep sorrow over Elliot's death, remembering him and his family for their light and bravery. The family has requested prayers for the surviving 14-year-old girl and for their privacy during this time of immense grief.
Two individuals have appeared in Waterford District Court charged in connection with the arson attack, with further arrests made and files sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Funeral arrangements for Elliot are being finalized, and the community is invited to make donations to CHI in lieu of flowers.
