A devastating fire erupted at a 55-plus housing facility in Boulder on Sunday night, resulting in one fatality. Emergency crews responded to the blaze just before midnight and immediately began searching the building. They located a male resident in one of the units and performed life-saving measures, but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Boulder Fire-Rescue Chief Michael Calderazzo expressed condolences to the victim's family and praised the swift response of the firefighters. The fire was successfully contained to a single unit, which suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage. Nearby units also sustained smoke and water damage, but thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
Approximately a dozen residents were evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, all evacuated residents were able to find alternative accommodations and were not permanently displaced. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, though authorities have confirmed that foul play has been ruled out.
