Four individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries following a severe collision between a taxi and another car in Bolton. The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning, around 12:45 am, on Wigan Road. Residents described hearing a loud noise and witnessing emergency personnel providing roadside assistance.
The crash involved a Citroen Picasso private hire vehicle and a Seat Leon. Both drivers were among the deceased, along with two passengers from the Seat vehicle. The remaining five injured passengers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A significant police cordon remained in place as investigators began their inquiry.
Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation.
