Body Found in House Fire After Deadly Christmas Attack

Emergency services responded to a house fire in Edenderry, County Offaly, in the early hours of Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Local firefighters extinguished the blaze at the Castleview Park residence.
During the operation, the body of an adult was discovered inside the premises. Gardai have secured the scene for forensic examination and will await the results of a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
This incident occurred at the same house previously targeted in a petrol bomb attack on December 6, 2025. That attack tragically claimed the lives of four-year-old Tadgh Farrell and his grandaunt, 60-year-old Mary Holt. At this stage, detectives are not suspecting foul play in relation to the current fire.
