Boat Crashes into Jetty at Jetty Park, Leaving 7 Injured

On 2025-11-18, a boat crashed into the jetty at Jetty Park, leaving 7 people injured. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, a total of 7 people were on the boat, and 6 of them were ejected and received medical care for their injuries.
The local boat captain, Greg Rapp, says crashes like this are not uncommon at Jetty Park, as the jetty can be difficult to see, especially at night. "It's a bit deceiving. It's so relaxed. Nothing's going to go wrong and then wham factor hits you," he explains.
Rapp suggests a simple solution to make the jetty more visible: installing solar-powered lighting at the tip of the jetty. "Whatever it would cost, wouldn't be much. Possibly saving some lives or serious injury," he says. The U.S. Coast Guard at Port Canaveral is reportedly working on this request.
Other boaters, like fisherman Jack Merchant, try to avoid getting too close to the jetty altogether. "Everybody pretty much stays to the middle. We don't see them getting too close to the rocks like that," he says.
The cause of the latest boat crash is still under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The names of the people involved have not been released.
