Hospital Fire Averted: Swift Action Saves Patients

A fire incident occurred at the Betul District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning, originating from a storeroom in the kitchen area. The blaze, which started at approximately 9:20 a.m. due to a suspected short circuit, was rapidly brought under control by hospital staff within about ten minutes. The timely intervention prevented the situation from escalating into a major accident.
In response to the emergency, patients from the hospital's female and pediatric wards were safely evacuated to unaffected areas of the facility. Hospital officials and medical staff, including Civil Surgeon Dr. Rupesh Padmakar and RMO Dr. Ranu Verma, were on-site immediately. An electrician and his assistant swiftly cut off the power supply and utilized fire extinguishers to douse the flames.
Following the successful containment of the fire, hospital staff commenced the process of returning patients to their original wards. Local administrative officials, including Betul in-charge Collector Akshat Jain, also visited the site to assess the situation and provide necessary directives, ensuring the safety and well-being of all patients and staff.
