Nine Injured in Massive Gas Leak Explosion at Bengaluru PG

Nine migrant workers from West Bengal suffered severe burn injuries following a powerful gas leak explosion at a private PG accommodation in Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM on the second floor of a three-storey building. The blast, originating from a kitchen gas leak, caused extensive damage, including shattered windows and doors on the affected floor and impact on an adjacent building.

All nine victims were housed in a single room, a detail that has prompted an investigation into safety violations. One worker sustained a minor fracture from jumping, while the others suffered burns exceeding 60 percent of their bodies. Doctors report all injured individuals are currently in stable condition.

Preliminary findings suggest a buildup of gas from a leaking cylinder trapped inside the room due to closed windows contributed to the explosion. Authorities are examining the cylinder's origin and associated equipment. The building owner and the PG operator are cooperating with the investigation into the alarming living conditions and potential breaches of safety regulations.
