Weston Huff, a 33-year-old American Fork, Utah resident, died instantly on Saturday, March 21, following a BASE jumping incident. First responders were called to Rock Canyon around 12:50 p.m. local time after reports of a man falling into the "Bad Bananas" area.
Authorities stated that Huff was an experienced sky diver and appeared to have suffered a parachute malfunction while BASE jumping from the canyon's top. His sister confirmed that his chute did not fully expand after he pulled the cord, leading to his death on impact.
Huff was also a certified tandem paragliding instructor, a profession his mother noted highlighted the risks he took. The family shared that Huff lived for flying and had previously jumped from Rock Canyon, where the fatal incident occurred.
