Residents in an Edgemere, Baltimore County community are experiencing a significant water disruption due to two major water main breaks. The breaks, located on River Drive and Waldman Avenue, have left multiple households without water.
Crews were observed working on Thursday to address the issue on Waldman Avenue, with River Drive next on the repair list. Longtime resident Keith Taylor expressed concern, noting that repairs might take five to seven days, impacting daily life and health, especially for elderly residents.
Taylor described recurring water issues in the area and voiced worries about potential contamination flowing into the Chesapeake Bay. He also pointed to the community's aging infrastructure, including old terracotta pipes, as a contributing factor to the frequent 'blowouts', particularly exacerbated by temperature shifts.
The Department of Public Works has not provided an estimated time for water restoration but confirmed that crews are actively working to complete the necessary repairs.
