Husband Arrested in Wife's Disappearance at Sea

Brian Hooker, 58, was detained by Bahamian police in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55, who allegedly fell overboard from a dinghy on April 5. In a phone call to a friend, Brian described the incident as a 'cascade of failures,' stating they left too late and in the dark without life jackets.

The couple had departed Hope Town in an eight-foot motorboat and were returning to their yacht, Soulmate, when Lynette allegedly fell overboard with the boat keys. Brian reported that the engine shut off, forcing him to paddle to shore. Authorities confirmed Brian was questioned on probable cause and is considered a suspect, though not formally charged.

Lynette's daughter and mother are skeptical of Brian's account and have called for a thorough investigation. They expressed disbelief that he failed to notify them promptly. The search-and-rescue mission for Lynette has now been declared a recovery mission, with officials still searching for a flotation cushion she may have used.
