The incident occurred on June 10 at 5:59 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 8 near milepost 95, close to Gila Bend, Arizona. Sergeant Sheldon was riding his motorcycle to visit friends at a nearby national park when a passenger vehicle collided with him.
Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers investigated the crash. They cited the driver of the passenger vehicle for failure to control their vehicle to avoid the collision.
