An Arik Air flight experienced a severe incident when a loud bang sounded from its left engine while descending towards Port Harcourt International Airport. The flight crew of W3 740, operating from Lagos, made the decision to divert to Benin Airport as a safety precaution.
Upon landing, the engine was observed to be visibly charred and damaged, with a portion of its metal casing hanging loose. Fortunately, all 80 passengers and the crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft. Arik Air has issued an apology for the travel disruption and is making arrangements to ensure passengers reach their final destinations.
