Tragedy has struck former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua during his visit to Nigeria, with two of his close friends losing their lives in a fatal car crash. The incident involved an SUV carrying Joshua and his companions colliding with a stationary truck on a main expressway near Lagos.
Joshua, who was a passenger, sustained injuries and was hospitalized. He has since been discharged. The two friends, Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their funerals are scheduled to take place at a London mosque on Sunday.
The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged at Sagamu Magistrates' Court with offenses including causing death by dangerous driving. He was granted bail and is awaiting further court proceedings on January 20.
