Runway Wreckage Cleared After Deadly Air Canada Crash

Crews began clearing the wreckage from the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday, following a fatal collision that occurred Sunday. The incident involved an Air Canada plane originating from Montreal and a fire truck. Tragically, two pilots lost their lives in the crash.
While approximately 40 individuals were treated for injuries, the airline reported on Wednesday that all but four passengers had been released from area hospitals. The plane was carrying 70 people when it impacted the fire truck that had entered the runway after being cleared by air traffic control.
The removal of the damaged aircraft commenced on Wednesday afternoon, significantly impacting airport operations as it blocked access to a primary runway.
