Chlorine Leak Sickens Firefighters in Ahmedabad

Two personnel from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) experienced adverse effects while responding to a chlorine gas leak on Sunday evening. The incident unfolded in Ghatlodia, near an Auda garden, after residents alerted the fire control room about breathing difficulties and stinging eyes. An AFES team was dispatched to the location.
Upon investigation, two firefighters, Yuvrajsinh and Vijay Chauhan, who approached the source of the leak, suffered from violent coughing and severe vomiting. The leakage was traced to an unknown person who had left a chlorine cylinder near the garden. Firefighters worked to contain the situation by spraying water.
The two affected firemen were admitted to Sola Civil Hospital as a precautionary measure. Their condition is reported as stable. The operation to mitigate the effects of the chlorine continued into Sunday night, with no other individuals reportedly affected by the gas.
