In the most recent 24-hour period, an additional 14 fatalities were reported by authorities on Tuesday. The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority confirmed that 66 individuals have been injured during this period.
Thunderstorms and persistent heavy rainfall have affected nearly every province, triggering floods, landslides, and lightning strikes. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted preliminary reports of 19 deaths and over 900 families affected. Assessments are still ongoing, and these figures may increase.
In addition to the human toll, 476 homes were partially or completely destroyed in the last 24 hours. Businesses, agricultural lands, and irrigation systems have also suffered damage, impacting 603 families. Forecasters predict further heavy rain across the country for the next three days, raising concerns about escalating disaster impacts.
