Davis, 60, was transported to Mount Sinai West hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle, identified as MD Abdul Shomuz, 62, remained at the scene.
Shomuz, from the Bronx, was arrested on Monday and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian, a misdemeanor offense. Davis, a Queens native, also maintained a full-time career as a US Customs and Border Protection agent at JFK Airport.
Beyond her acting and customs work, friends and neighbors remembered Davis as a friendly and unassuming individual, unaware of her television career.
