Nine Dead in Horrific Bus-Car Collision in Tamil Nadu

A severe road accident on Wednesday evening near Ezhuthur, Cuddalore district, resulted in the tragic deaths of nine individuals and injuries to at least ten others. The incident involved a state-run bus traveling from Madurai to Chennai. Reports indicate that a sudden tyre burst caused the bus to lose control, jump the median, and collide with two cars.
The two cars, en route from Chennai to Trichy, were struck head-on by the out-of-control bus. The impact was fatal for all nine occupants of the cars. Those injured, comprising passengers from both the cars and the bus, were promptly admitted to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced ex-gratia payments of Rs 3 lakh for the families of those who perished and Rs 1 lakh for those injured. The accident caused a significant traffic disruption on the Chennai-Trichy national highway, lasting approximately one hour as authorities worked to clear the scene and manage the aftermath.
