A six-year-old girl, Preshelle Prince, lost her life in a devastating road accident in Janakpuri, West Delhi, on February 17. The incident occurred around 7:40 am near the Janakpuri Fire Station when a speeding Santro car collided with the e-rickshaw carrying Preshelle and her grandmother.
The impact caused the e-rickshaw to overturn, resulting in severe injuries to both occupants. The child was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred for advanced treatment, but tragically succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Santro, Sanjeev, a resident of Majra Dabas, has been apprehended by the police.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash and negligent driving causing death. The offending vehicle has also been seized as investigations continue. The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding speeding vehicles and road safety enforcement in Delhi's residential and school zones.
