Six individuals lost their lives and fourteen others sustained injuries in a devastating collision on the KMP Expressway in Palwal early Tuesday. A pickup van, en route from Mainpuri for a religious pilgrimage, struck a truck that was illegally parked near a liquor shop. The accident occurred around 4:30 AM, a time when visibility and driver alertness are typically diminished.
The pilgrims had departed Mainpuri on August 28 for a spiritual journey that included visits to religious sites in Rajasthan. They were on their way to Mathura and Vrindavan when the fatal crash took place. The van, which had been modified with an upper section to accommodate more passengers, impacted the stationary truck with extreme force.
Rescuers worked to extricate passengers trapped in the mangled vehicles. The injured were transported to Civil Hospital in Palwal, where the six victims were pronounced dead. Police have registered cases against the drivers of both vehicles and are actively seeking to trace them, investigating potential charges including causing death by negligence and rash or negligent acts.
