Devotees' Pilgrimage Ends in Tragedy

A religious pilgrimage for a group of friends from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) concluded tragically with a fatal road accident in Solapur district. Four individuals were killed, and eight others sustained injuries when a speeding truck collided with their vehicle in the Mangalwedha area. The group, consisting of eight women and four children, had been visiting religious sites including Pandharpur, Kolhapur, and Solapur.
The accident occurred on Monday around 7:30 PM as they were traveling on the national highway towards the Solapur railway station for their return journey. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was traveling at high speed, impacting their vehicle with immense force and dragging it significantly. Rescue operations were immediately launched by local residents and police, with the injured being transported to Solapur district government hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Sonam Ahire from Kalyan, Savita Gupta (42) from Dombivli, Yogini Kekane (38) from Dombivli, and 14-year-old Aditya Gupta from Parel, Mumbai. Aditya's younger brother remains in critical condition with severe abdominal injuries. Relatives and local authorities have been coordinating to arrange for the repatriation of the deceased and support for the affected families.
