Sai River Claims Three During Ganesh Immersion

Three men lost their lives in the Sai river near Jabraila bridge in Lucknow on Tuesday evening while participating in Ganesh idol immersion. The incident occurred when Dheeraj, aged 35, entered a deeper part of the river and began to drown. Hariprasad, 40, attempted a rescue but also succumbed to the current. Pramod, 22, entered the water next, leading to all three disappearing.
Rescue efforts were immediately launched, with police, local divers, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team deployed. Despite extensive search operations throughout the night using boats and floodlights, only the bodies of Dheeraj and Hariprasad were recovered on Wednesday. The search for Pramod is still in progress as of Wednesday.
The tragedy has deeply affected the victims' families, who relied on their labour for support. Dheeraj’s wife is three months pregnant, and Hariprasad’s wife is also expecting. The community has expressed concern and awaited updates by the riverbank, with officials assuring a thorough search operation was underway.
