Boy Dies After Fall While Working on Decor

Tragedy struck in Trichy when a 14-year-old boy, A Manoj Kumar, lost his life following a fall from a building. He had been working as a helper for a local sound system organiser, M Giridharan, after discontinuing his education in Class IX.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon while Manoj Kumar and Giridharan were decorating a house for a ceremony. Both fell approximately 30 feet when the platform they were standing on gave way. They were rushed to Trichy government hospital.
Manoj Kumar passed away from his injuries in the early hours of Saturday. Based on a complaint from the boy's mother, Srirangam police have registered a case against Giridharan. He has been booked under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence due to employing the minor for hazardous work.
