As the boys were passing Sycamore Avenue, they collided with a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The impact knocked the teens off the scooter, leaving one with a broken arm and the other in critical condition. Both were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and promptly contacted emergency services. Police report that the driver has been fully cooperative throughout the ongoing investigation into the crash.
This tragic incident comes just two months after a similar electric scooter accident in nearby Aston Township, which resulted in the death of a 12-year-old girl. Lawmakers are now considering new safety regulations, known as "Abby's Law," to address the growing concerns around electric scooter use by minors.
