In a heroic act, the driver, Satish Rao, managed to hand over the steering to his colleague just before collapsing, averting a potentially disastrous situation and ensuring the safety of the passengers on board.
The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which shows Rao seated next to his colleague before suddenly falling ill. A woman in the front seat is seen calling for help, and other passengers rush to support Rao, holding him upright and rubbing his feet. Despite their efforts, Rao was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The second driver on the bus, as per protocol for long-distance routes, took over driving after Rao handed him the wheel. The driver attempted to procure medicines for Rao at a nearby town, but all medical stores were closed. Rao's condition continued to deteriorate, leading to his collapse near Desuri Nal Ghat. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the colleague drove directly to Desuri Hospital, where doctors confirmed Rao's death.
