Queensland Father Fights for Life After Devastating Bali Scooter Crash

On July 1st, 2025, a devastating scooter accident in Bali left Keanu Neilson, a father from Bundaberg, Queensland, in a critical condition. The 32-year-old suffered a broken nose and pelvis, fractured cheekbone and temple, a snapped upper arm, and internal bleeding on the brain in the crash.

Neilson underwent emergency surgery on July 3rd, but remains in a serious condition, with fears he may not survive without urgent, ongoing care. His family and friends have launched a desperate plea for help to fund the life-saving treatment he needs, as all medical care in Indonesia must be paid up front.

Neilson's 3-year-old daughter, Ellie, is waiting for her dad to come home, not yet understanding the full extent of what has happened. His partner, brother, and sister-in-law have remained by his side at every moment, hoping for a miracle.

The community has rallied around Neilson, with a GoFundMe campaign started by his friend Mitch Lamb to cover the rising hospital bills. Lamb described Neilson as one of the "kindest, most vibrant souls" he's ever known, and the family is determined to bring him home to his daughter.
