As of 2025-08-07T17:20:05+00:00, the riverine areas of Patna and its neighboring districts have been severely affected by the overflowing Ganga river. Thousands of people have been displaced and are now forced to live on embankments in the state capital area, along with their cattle.
In response to this crisis, BJP OBC morcha's national general secretary, Nikhil Anand, has requested the district magistrate, Thiyagarajan SM, to open relief camps in Maner and Danapur, and to expedite flood relief and rescue work. According to Anand, five blocks of Patna district - Maner, Danapur, Patna Sadar, Barh, and Mokama - have been affected by the floods, and people have started migrating towards JP Ganga Path and other areas. It is estimated that more than 50,000 people have been affected by the floodwaters.
The district administration has put the circle officers, BDOs, and SDOs on high alert, and the DM has inspected the flooded areas to assess the situation. Anand has also requested that arrangements be made for accommodation, food, and fodder for the affected people and their animals, as well as the distribution of essential supplies like food packets, candles, matchboxes, and tarpaulins.
