New York City Honors 9/11 Victims on 24th Anniversary of Attacks

On September 11, 2025, New York City will commemorate the 24th anniversary of the devastating 9/11 attacks. The city, along with the nation, will pause to remember the 2,983 people who were killed in the 2001 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
A solemn ceremony will take place at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan, which will include six moments of silence. During the ceremony, family members of those killed on 9/11 will read the names of all the victims. The memorial comes amid the United Nations General Assembly, which may bring additional closures to the East Side of Manhattan.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum, located at the World Trade Center site, will be closed to the public on Thursday to allow the victims' loved ones to visit privately. Drivers should also plan for street closures around the area. The ceremony is expected to conclude around 12:30 p.m.
