On August 22, 2025, firefighters in Napa County, California are working tirelessly to contain the Pickett Fire, which has been rapidly expanding since it started just before 3 p.m. the previous day. The fire has already burned 2,133 acres and is currently 0% contained, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.
Authorities have issued evacuation orders for several areas near the town of Calistoga, including zones north of Silverado Trail, south of Pickett Road, east of Rosedale Road, and west of Pickett Road, as well as zones north of Clover Flat Road and west of Ditch Henry Road. Additional zones are under evacuation warnings as the fire continues to threaten nearby communities.
To combat the blaze, firefighters have been using water-dropping aircraft throughout the night to help suppress the flames. Division Chief Ryan Isham stated that while fire activity diminished during the evening due to increased humidity, it is expected to increase as temperatures rise again. The agency has deployed a significant number of resources, including 75 engines, 8 hand crews, 15 dozers, 10 water tenders, and numerous air tankers and helicopters, with a total of approximately 435 personnel working on the fire.
