In a significant development for law enforcement in the region, Simon Megicks has been appointed as the new chief constable of Norfolk and Suffolk police forces. Megicks, a seasoned police officer, started his career in Cambridgeshire back in 2015 and went on to work in Hertfordshire as a temporary assistant chief constable, where he led operational support functions across three collaborated forces.
In 2017, Megicks was promoted to assistant chief constable and transferred to Norfolk and Suffolk to lead protective services. He has now been elevated to the role of deputy chief constable, a position he has held since 2021. Megicks expressed his honor and privilege at being confirmed as the new chief constable, stating that he is confident in the support of his colleagues, many of whom he has worked with before, to deliver the policing service the public expects and needs.
The Norfolk and Suffolk police commissioner, Lorne Preston, praised Megicks as a local man well-placed to understand the needs of the communities he will serve. Preston expressed confidence that Megicks shares the drive, integrity, and ambition required to keep the region's communities safe, tackle crime, and apprehend criminals.
