Teenage Student Accused of Setting Teacher on Fire in Alleged One-Sided Love Attack

On August 18th, 2025, a disturbing incident occurred in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, where an 18-year-old student allegedly set his 26-year-old teacher on fire at her residence. The teacher, who was recently posted as a guest teacher at the Utkrisht School, suffered 25% burn injuries and was immediately referred to the Jabalpur Medical College for specialized treatment.

The accused, Suryansh Kochar, who passed Class 10 last year, has been arrested by the police. According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Bhuria, the incident is related to a love affair, and the investigation is ongoing based on the statements of the individuals involved.

The school principal, GS Patel, expressed shock over the incident, stating that the teacher had been posted as a lab technician and a guest teacher just a month and a half ago. The police are also investigating a recent incident during Independence Day celebrations at the school, where the teacher had reportedly filed a complaint against the accused for making an objectionable comment.

The Additional SP of Narsinghpur, Sandeep Bhuria, has stated that the actual cause that triggered the attack will be clear once the investigations are completed. The authorities are determined to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served in this disturbing case.
