On February 25, 2023, Chaubara resident Suman Devi filed a complaint with the police, accusing six persons and a woman of assaulting her husband Kuldeep Singh with sticks. The Fatehabad district and sessions court has now convicted the six accused individuals - Shishpal, his two sons Shalinder and Uttam Singh alias Suresh, as well as Sandeep, Satbir, and Aakash of Mirzapur in Hisar.
The court found the accused guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rioting, murder, and criminal conspiracy. Judge Deepak Aggarwal sentenced each of them to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹15,000. However, the woman accused in the case was acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
Fatehabad Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain stated that the police thoroughly investigated the incident and collected sufficient evidence to secure the convictions. This verdict serves as a strong message against such acts of violence and mob attacks in the region.
