Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has appointed Mathura Sridharan as the state's 12th solicitor general, effective as of August 1, 2025. Sridharan, a highly accomplished legal professional, brings an impressive background to the role.
Prior to joining the Ohio Solicitor's Office, Sridharan clerked for Judge Steven J. Menashi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Judge Deborah A. Batts of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She earned her Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law and also holds a master's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Additionally, Sridharan completed her undergraduate studies at MIT, earning bachelor's degrees in both economics and electrical engineering and computer science.
Sridharan's appointment follows the recent confirmation of former Ohio solicitor general T Elliot Gaiser to lead the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel. As the state's top attorney for appeals in state and federal courts, Sridharan will play a crucial role in representing Ohio's legal interests at the highest levels.
