Summary
- Pharmacy in Sadar Bazaar area raided for illegally selling MTP kits
- Decoy customer used to obtain evidence against the accused
- Owners Javed and Mohammed Arif arrested, FIR filed under multiple acts

In a crackdown on the illegal sale of medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) kits, a pharmacy in Gurugram's Sadar Bazaar area was raided on the night of September 4th, 2025. The raid was conducted by a team constituted by the civil surgeon, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, along with the local police.
The action was taken based on an anonymous complaint alleging that the accused, Javed and Mohammed Arif, were openly dispensing MTP kits, which are supposed to be used only under the supervision of a gynecologist in a medical facility as per the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Act, 2002.
As part of the evidence collection, a decoy customer who was 11 weeks pregnant was recruited. When she asked for the MTP kit, the men at the counter reviewed her ultrasound reports and provided her with some medicines, in exchange for ₹1,500. They also informed her of the dosage and timings to administer the medicines, which would terminate her pregnancy.
After the decoy customer left the shop and narrated the incident to the waiting police team, the authorities arrested the owner, Javed, along with his associate, Mohammed Arif. An FIR was filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971, the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
This incident comes on the heels of a similar raid conducted in August 2025 on a dental and eye clinic in Sector 52, Gurugram, for illegally carrying out pregnancy terminations.
