IIT Graduate's Suicide Shocks Gurgaon Community

On August 3rd, 2025, a 26-year-old software engineer named Mohit Chauhan tragically took his own life in his rented apartment in Gurgaon's Sector 17-A. Chauhan, a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room around 3 pm.

Authorities were immediately notified, and Chauhan was rushed to the local civil hospital, where he was declared dead. His body was then shifted to the mortuary, and an autopsy is scheduled for the following day.

According to Chauhan's father, who is also an engineer working in the city, his son had been depressed for the past few days, but he had never disclosed the reason for his distress. Chauhan had spoken to his younger brother on the phone just a day before the incident, but he was alone at the time of the tragedy.

Police are currently investigating the cause of Chauhan's extreme step, as no suicide note was found at the scene. The young man had gotten engaged just last month, adding to the mystery surrounding his untimely demise.
