Eyewitness Describes Horrific Shooting at Campus Rally

On August 15th, 2025, a campus rally turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy when a prominent figure was shot and killed in front of a crowd of onlookers. According to eyewitness accounts, the victim, known as Kirk, was speaking about gun violence just moments before the shooting occurred.

One eyewitness, who was at the event with a group of friends, described the horrific incident in detail. "Me and my buddies were having a good time just listening to what was going on and we just saw it, heard a loud shout, loud bang and then I saw his body actually in slow motion kind of fall over," the witness told BBC News.

Another attendee, a student at Utah Valley University who considered himself a "big fan" of the victim, was filming the event from about 50 feet away when the shooting happened. "I was sitting there filming him, I cut my video and just then I heard this shot," the student, Porter LaFerber, recounted to BBC Radio 4's Today programme. "You don't really realise what's happened until it's happened. Charlie falls off his stool, everyone starts panicking."

The chaos that ensued saw people scrambling to flee the scene, with one witness, Danielle, describing the harrowing experience. "It was horrible," she said. "All I hear is screaming and I see people running and I'm like, 'it's not safe to run. It's not safe to get up'...And all I'm saying is, 'please, God, please, God, please, God,' because I don't want to die."

Authorities are still investigating the shooting, which appears to have been carried out from a nearby rooftop. The tragic incident has left the community shaken, with a former state representative who knew the victim describing the event as "really traumatic" for the thousands of students who witnessed it.
