Cattle Smugglers Arrested in Daring Police Raid

On September 8, 2025, authorities in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, conducted a successful joint operation to crack down on a cattle smuggling ring. According to the report, 16 cattle smugglers were arrested and 51 cattle were rescued after an encounter with the suspects.
The operation was carried out by the Bidhuna and Erwa Katra police forces. During the encounter, one of the smugglers, identified as Raghuveer, sustained a bullet injury and was apprehended. His nine accomplices were also arrested.
Interrogation of the suspects revealed that the gang had been capturing stray cattle and selling them to smugglers in Rajasthan. From there, the cattle were then transported to other states for slaughter.

This operation comes just days after a separate incident on September 6, where 14 dead cattle, including 6 cows and 8 bulls, were found in an overturned container on Shampur road. Three injured bulls were rescued and taken to a shelter.
The Auraiya Superintendent of Police formed three teams to investigate the crimes and capture the perpetrators. As a result, several key members of the smuggling ring were arrested, including Happy Singh Sengar, Shiva Bhadauria, Deepak, Manjesh Yadav, and Rahul.
On September 7, the Erwa Katra police also arrested six more smugglers on the Baraunakhurd-Kalyanpur road, recovering an additional 48 cattle from them. The arrested individuals were identified as Arjun, Kallu, Mukesh, Jaadi alias Naina, Kallo, and Bachchu.

The Auraiya SP, Abhijit R Shankar, stated that more arrests are expected as the investigation continues, based on the information provided by the detained cattle smugglers.
