Contract Killer Arrested for Assault on BHU Telugu Department Head

According to the latest reports, the attack on the head of the Telugu department at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) last month was allegedly orchestrated by a professor from the same department. The main accused, Ganesh Pasi, a contract killer from Prayagraj, was arrested from the Lanka area of Varanasi on Tuesday night after a shootout with the police.
The incident occurred when Pasi, along with two other criminals, conducted a recce and then attacked BHU's Professor CS Ramachandra Murthy on a campus road, leaving him with fractures in both arms. Iron rods were reportedly used in the assault, but Murthy survived the attack.
Police investigations have revealed that the alleged mastermind behind the plot is Budati Venkateswarlu, a former BHU Telugu department professor. Venkateswarlu is said to have conspired with a former research scholar to hire Pasi to carry out the assault, allegedly seeking revenge after losing the department's leadership following a complaint from Murthy.
Murthy is currently recovering from his injuries, while the alleged mastermind, Budati Venkateswarlu, remains at large. Over 300 teachers and several students had staged a protest near the BHU campus in July to demand immediate action against the attackers.
