4 Aug
Summary
- 50-year-old Florida man married three women at the same time
- Wives discovered his scheme when one wife searched county records
- Sentenced to 2 years' probation and 100 hours community service

In a shocking case of bigamy, a 50-year-old Florida man, Henry Betsey Jr., was sentenced last week to two years' probation and 100 hours of community service for marrying three different women at the same time.
The scheme came to light when Betsey's first wife, Tonya, discovered his other marriages while searching county court records. Betsey had married Tonya in November 2020, Brandi in the same year, and Michele just three weeks after meeting her on Match.com. All three women were single, recently divorced mothers when they fell victim to Betsey's charming facade.
The women accused Betsey of using them for money, with each recalling his desperate attempts to get their cash. Michele, who was still legally married to Betsey at the time of his sentencing, told the court, "I am not here today just as a woman betrayed by someone I once trusted, but I am also speaking on behalf of the other women involved."

Despite the women's hopes for jail time, Judge Daniel Merritt sentenced Betsey to the relatively lenient punishment of two years' probation and community service. Betsey's new girlfriend, whose identity was not revealed, stood by him in the courthouse audience during the sentencing.
