Earlier this week, on Monday, Justice Vipul M Pancholi was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. The oath of office was administered by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan at a ceremony held in Raj Bhavan, which was attended by several Patna High Court judges, state ministers, government officials, and members of the legal community.
Born in Ahmedabad on October 28, 1968, Justice Pancholi entered the Bar in September 1991 and began practicing as an advocate in the Gujarat High Court. He served as an assistant government pleader and additional public prosecutor at the Gujarat High Court for seven years until March 2006. Pancholi was then elevated as an additional judge of the Gujarat High Court on October 1, 2014, and confirmed as a permanent judge on June 10, 2016.
In July 2023, Justice Pancholi was transferred to the Patna High Court and took oath as a judge. With his appointment as the new Chief Justice, he now leads the Patna High Court, bringing his extensive legal experience and expertise to the role.
