Summary
- Facility CEO Randall Mackendrick arrested for alleged sex crime.
- Mackendrick met an undercover officer posing as a minor.
- Facility owner confirmed Mackendrick no longer works for them.

Randall J. Mackendrick, the chief executive of Fox Run Center for Children and Adolescents, was arrested on August 29, 2026. He faces charges including unlawful sexual contact with a minor, importuning, disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile, and possessing criminal tools. Police allege Mackendrick drove approximately 175 miles from St. Clairsville to North Ridgeville, Ohio, to meet someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl for sex.
However, the individual he intended to meet was an undercover police officer. Mackendrick, 59, was released on a $125,000 bond. Universal Health Services, the owner of Fox Run, stated that Mackendrick no longer works for the company and has no access to the facility. They also indicated that the alleged conduct is personal and not connected to current or former patients.
The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, responsible for licensing the facility, is aware of the arrest and stated it is part of an open criminal investigation. Fox Run is a 100-bed residential treatment center for children, many of whom are victims of sexual assault seeking mental health treatment.
This incident follows a previous investigation by The Marshall Project that uncovered allegations of unsafe restraints, physical and sexual assaults, and medical neglect at the facility. News of Mackendrick's arrest has prompted further discussion among former patients, workers, and the community regarding safety and accountability at Fox Run.
