In Kaushambi district, a 19-year-old man, Shiv Prasad Lodhi, died from injuries sustained during an alleged assault by the family of his minor girlfriend. The incident occurred early Friday in Mahua Khara village, under the Manjhanpur police station limits. Shiv Prasad had gone to meet the 17-year-old girl at her home, reportedly after a three-year relationship.
The girl's family allegedly discovered the pair and attacked them with sticks. Shiv Prasad suffered multiple injuries and, according to his family, made a final plea for help to his mother via phone while allegedly held captive. He was reportedly dumped outside the house, succumbing to his injuries before reaching the hospital in Prayagraj.
The injured girl, who sustained harm while trying to protect Shiv Prasad, was hospitalized. Police have arrested the girl's mother and brother and are actively searching for her father and another brother. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination as the investigation continues.
