WWE performer Marcel Barthel, known in the ring as Ludwig Kaiser, faces a misdemeanor battery charge following an alleged incident on April 24, 2026. The accusation arose after a dispute in an apartment building elevator in Lake Eola, Florida. Barthel, who is 35 years old and from Germany, was reportedly engaged in "aggressively kissing" a female companion.
A male resident, whose identity has not been released, asked the couple to "have some manners" as he exited the elevator. This prompted Barthel to allegedly strike the resident, pushing him to the ground. Authorities who responded to the scene noted physical marks on the victim and reviewed surveillance footage supporting the victim's account.
Barthel, also known as "El Grande Americano," surrendered to the Orange County Jail on May 20, 2026, and was subsequently released on $1,000 bond. The wrestling organization Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide has canceled events involving Barthel following the news of his arrest.
