A 26-year-old woman, Lakshmi Priya, died at her home in Bengaluru's KR Pura police quarters, with her family alleging foul play and suspecting harassment by her husband and in-laws. Priya was married to police constable Rajesh Aradhya on May 11, 2023.
Her father's complaint details alleged continuous mental and physical harassment by Rajesh, his father Palaksharadhya, and mother Bhagyamma. Priya, who had delivered a baby girl eight months ago, had recently returned home after spending six months with her parents.
Suspicion arose on May 22, 2026, when Priya sent her mobile password to her sister, Jayashree. When Jayashree tried to contact her, she received no response. Rajesh later informed them that Priya had died by suicide.
Rajesh, attached to the HAL police station, alerted the authorities upon returning home that evening. A case has been filed against the husband and his parents under sections related to dowry death and cruelty, as well as provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
