Authorities arrested a man on Friday morning accused of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Florida Highway Patrol troopers intercepted his pickup truck on State Road 570 in Polk County following a "Be On the Lookout" alert from the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The alert was triggered by information that a woman inside the truck was shouting that she had been kidnapped.
Upon stopping the vehicle, troopers found the alleged victim in the back seat. She exhibited signs of physical assault, including visible blood and multiple injuries. The victim reportedly told investigators that the suspect refused to let her leave the vehicle and physically assaulted her when she attempted to seek help at a coffee shop.
The suspect, identified as Jeremy Matthew Mason, faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault. Investigators also noted an active protection order against him from another woman and a dating violence warrant from Ohio. The case remains under active investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
