12-Year Home Nightmare Ends: Woman Reclaims Property

A woman named Hulsi Devi has finally reclaimed her home after a 12-year legal battle against squatters. She discovered her house had been illegally occupied by the family of the man she bought it from in March 1989, shortly after she left for her daughter's wedding in July 2011. The occupiers, who changed the locks, even obtained an ex-parte stay order against her.
Undeterred, Hulsi Devi filed a civil suit in 2012, seeking eviction and compensation. The intruders claimed the sale deed was forged. However, after a lengthy legal process, a lower court ruled the sale deed genuine and possession illegal in October 2024.
On Tuesday, the Rajasthan High Court dismissed the occupiers' appeal, upholding the lower court's verdict. The heirs of the original owner were ordered to immediately vacate the property and pay Hulsi Devi compensation for damages and over a decade of unlawful occupation, allowing her to finally return home.
