A shocking case has emerged in Brazil where a 37-year-old woman, identified as Amanda Maria Souza de Oliveira, is accused of posing as a 12-year-old girl. For approximately 14 months, she lived with a couple in Nova Iguacu, portraying herself as a child escaping abuse and forced prostitution. This elaborate deception involved feigning childhood behaviors like using pacifiers and baby bottles, and even staging panic attacks.
Her scheme unraveled when a relative grew suspicious and discovered alarming online reports of similar incidents. Further investigation revealed over 200 needles embedded in her body, a finding initially discovered when needles began emerging, prompting medical examination.
Authorities revealed that Souza de Oliveira had used fake names and fabricated abusive pasts across at least seven Brazilian states. She had previously faced charges for false identity offenses in Goias. As of June 3, 2026, she remains in custody at Joinville Women's Prison pending a psychiatric evaluation.
