A shocking incident in Palanpur, Gujarat, has highlighted a disturbing breach of trust, resulting in the alleged murder of a 36-year-old woman. The victim, Shantiben Akedivala, was reportedly killed by Rekha Rathod, an individual who had been associated with her family for approximately fifteen years, performing household chores and gaining their complete confidence.
The motive appears to stem from a dispute over a significant sum of money and valuables, including around 790 grams of gold, silver jewelry, and Rs 2 lakh cash. Shantiben had reportedly assisted Rekha Rathod financially a year prior, but tensions arose when Shantiben began requesting the return of these assets.
On the evening of March 22, Shantiben visited Rekha Rathod's furniture shop, where authorities believe a murder plot was already in motion. Accused Rekha Rathod, along with her husband and two additional individuals, allegedly murdered Shantiben. Investigators report that she was first intoxicated and then strangled using a clutch wire.
Following the alleged murder, the perpetrators reportedly placed Shantiben's body in a sack and abandoned it in a deserted drain in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. The Palanpur City West Police initiated an investigation upon receiving a complaint, leading to the swift arrest of Rekha Rathod, her husband, and two other accomplices.
